SaaS Backup for Microsoft 365 Replaces Microsoft Office 365

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

SaaS

Software as a Service (SaaS) is tapping the growth market. SaaS applications are gaining popularity, just as Microsoft is taking away support for Microsoft 2010, 2013, and 2016, otherwise known as Microsoft Office 365, by October 2020 and giving way to SaaS Backup for Microsoft 365. Most Business-to-Business (B2B) users use SaaS applications requiring companies to create access points for businesses to use the service. One main focal point of SaaS is that it should have an integrated system that meshes well with most business systems.

Assign Users

One factor to consider is the cost of SaaS and taking a look at whether the price will make or break a decision to purchase a SaaS. A subscription price for SaaS on a case-by-case basis is how most SaaS operates. Microsoft offers a paid subscription for SaaS Backup Microsoft 365.

Consumption of SaaS is different for each business. The option of "one size fits all," or even most for that matter is near non-existent. The ability of a SaaS to grow with a business is essential. SaaS Backup for Microsoft Office 365 works when a current user has Global permissions and valid 365 licenses. If the current permissions do not include global permissions, a new 365 account can be created by signing up with an account that utilizes global permissions and a valid license. Remove the license once the signup completes (see the steps below, as described by NetApp).

1. Log in to your Microsoft 365 Management portal using an account with

administrative options.

2. Select Users.

3. Click Active users, then Add a user.

4. Enter the details of the new service account.

◦ Add First name

◦ Add Last name

◦ Add Display name

◦ Add User name

The new user name is the name of the account.

5. Expand Roles, select Global administrator as the role, click Add.

6. Log in to your Microsoft 365 Management Portal to activate new account.

7. After signup, maintain three permissions:

◦Exchange Administrator

◦SharePoint Administrator

◦Application Impersonation Role

These rules are critical if there is a need to restrict the individual licenses for the Global administrator role.

Security Of SaaS

Data Privacy and Data Security go hand in hand when examining SaaS; because SaaS can have multiple users under one umbrella, understanding how SaaS security work is vital. Each user can have encryption not to be accessed by the previous user, which will instill confidence that protections are working. All vulnerabilities should be secured and up-to-date. Create rules within security groups. SaaS Backup for Microsoft 365 allows up to 3 security groups in total (see steps below).

  1. Go to ACCOUNT SETTINGS

  2. then SECURITY GROUPS.

  3. Go to search box, then enter security group to be added

  4. then select Add.

To delete a user/user group:

When utilizing security groups in a user-defined rule, deletion is not possible; you must remove the user-defined rule, then delete the security group.

Deleting rules:

  1. Click ACCOUNT SETTINGS.

  2. Click the SECURITY GROUPS.

  3. Click the delete icon next to the group removed.
